Job Title: Virtual Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH)

Location: Remote (New Mexico-based)

Employment Type: Full-Time or Part-Time Contract

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Virtual Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to provide specialized instruction to Kโ€“12 students in New Mexico. This remote position offers the flexibility of working from home while making a meaningful impact on students' educational experiences.

    Key Responsibilities
  • Instruction & Curriculum Delivery: Develop and implement individualized lesson plans that align with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), focusing on language, literacy, and communication skills.
  • IEP Development & Collaboration: Actively participate in IEP meetings, collaborating with parents, general education teachers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students.
  • Assessment & Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess student performance, adjust instructional strategies as needed, and maintain accurate records of student progress.
  • Assistive Technology Integration: Utilize appropriate assistive technologies to enhance the learning experience for students with hearing impairments.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in deaf education and remote teaching methodologies.
    Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelorโ€™s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Certification: Valid New Mexico Teaching License with endorsement in Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience working with deaf or hard of hearing students, preferably in a virtual setting.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
  • Familiarity with virtual teaching platforms and assistive technologies.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to adapt instructional materials to meet diverse student needs.
    Preferred Attributes
  • Experience in developing and implementing IEPs.
  • Knowledge of current instructional methodologies for deaf and hard of hearing students.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
