Tax Attorney (State & Local Tax – SALT) Taxation Practice Group | Top AmLaw 100 Law Firm A nationally recognized Top AmLaw 100 law firm is seeking an experienced Tax Attorney to join its growing Taxation Practice Group, with a primary focus on State and Local Tax (SALT) matters. This firm continues to expand rapidly, reporting $1.28B in gross revenue in 2024 and recently naming 18 new partners: creating outstanding opportunities for long-term career growth. This is a team-based, collegial, and client-focused environment where attorneys are supported in building sophisticated practices and meaningful client relationships. Office Locations: Qualified candidates may be considered for the following offices: Chicago Dallas Detroit Los Angeles Milwaukee New York San Diego San Francisco / Silicon Valley Washington, D.C.

Advise clients on all facets of multistate taxation , including income, franchise, and sales/use tax matters
Handle state tax controversy matters, audits, and appeals
Provide tax planning and structuring support for transactions and reorganizations
Assist with remediation of state tax exposure in M&A and other transactional contexts
Collaborate with cross-practice teams on complex client matters
Experience with unclaimed property and escheatment matters (Preferred)

5–9 years of substantial experience in SALT matters
JD from an ABA-accredited law school
Strong academic credentials
Prior AmLaw 100 experience strongly preferred
Active Bar membership in good standing (or ability to obtain timely admission in the office jurisdiction)
Demonstrated strength in client service, project management, and senior-level review
Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent work ethic
Client-focused and team-oriented mindset
