Job title: Office Aide 4 Hour

Job description: The role of the 4 hr./6 hr. Aide is to monitor the cafeteria to facilitate a safe and orderly lunch period for the students of LISD. Responsibilities may include general clerical and classroom assistance during the periods before and after lunch.



Major Duties:


  • Follow local, state and federal policies and procedures.

  • Monitor the cafeteria during student lunch period.

  • Assist in managing student behavior to include crisis intervention.

  • Assist in supervising students.

  • Conduct other duties as assigned by the Principal or Assistant Principal before, during and after the lunch period.

  • Work in conjunction with Durham Transportation as a bus driver.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work in variable environmental conditions related to temperature, humidity and other atmosphere conditions.

  • Travel by car, van, or bus and with others.

  • Physical ability to do lifting of 10 lbs. or more, extensive standing, walking, talking, occasional running and the ability to move with agility.

  • Knowledge of or ability to learn behavior management intervention techniques.

  • The ability to maintain emotional control under stress.

  • The ability to understand and maintain confidentiality.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate in oral and written form in English.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to follow directives from the Principal and Assistant Principal.

General Employee Requirements:

  • Support and align work with the mission, vision, and beliefs of the district.

  • Follow and support board policies in areas of related responsibility.

  • Ensure district resources are managed effectively to maximize resources for student learning.

  • Share in the development and implementation of district success plans.

Appraisal: Performance of this job will be appraised in accordance with Board Policy DNA. This job description/appraisal form is the instrument to be used for appraisal of this position. Appraisal is a continuous process designed to improve the quality of performance and may affect the recommendation for employment. A performance scale from 5 to 1 will be utilized. 5 = Clearly Outstanding; 4 = Exceeds Expectations; 3 = Meets Expectations; 2 = Below Expectations; 1 = Unsatisfactory; 0 = Not Applicable.
