The Quality Assurance Specialist will own end-to-end quality testing, work with Application Development teams to define QA processes, and integrate automated checks into the SDLC pipeline.
- Responsibilities
- Defining, documenting, and maintaining QA processes (test planning, cases, environments, sign-off)
- Creating and maintaining test plans and cases from requirements/user stories; tracking coverage and gaps
- Executing functional, regression, and exploratory testing; logging defects with clear steps and impact
- Participating in release readiness (go/no-go) and post-release verification
- Helping refine acceptance criteria and definition of done with product and engineering
- Designing and executing security-focused test scenarios (auth, authorization, input validation, sensitive data handling)
- Supporting security reviews and compliance (e.g., PCI/SOC2) by testing controls and documenting results
- Identifying and reporting security-related defects; collaborating with Application Development teams on remediation
- Staying current on common web vulnerabilities (OWASP, etc.) and basic secure coding practices
- Designing, implementing, and maintaining automated front-end tests (e.g., E2E, component, visual) in the chosen stack
- Integrating automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline; owning stability, flakiness, and run times
- Using version control, branching, and code review practices for testing code
- Balancing automation coverage with manual testing where automation is not cost-effective
- Maintaining a favorable and collaborative working relationship with co-workers in all departments to foster an environment of trust and mutual respect
- Driving standards and best practices whenever possible and effectively fostering a culture of engagement
- Enhancing the organization’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
- Being innovative and recommending new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of operations and services performed
- Skills
- 3+ years of demonstrated work experience in a QA or similar role required
- 1+ years of experience in QA or software testing, test design, execution, defect management, and working in an Agile/Scrum flow
- Experience with test automation frameworks
- Hands-on experience with automated front-end testing and integrating tests into CI (e.g., GitHub Actions)
- Strong understanding of web application architecture (HTTP, REST APIs, authentication, session management)
- Familiarity with web security concepts and testing (auth, sessions, XSS, CSRF, sensitive data)
- Familiarity with security testing tools and test automation frameworks
- Comfort with at least one programming or scripting language used in test automation (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, Python)
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and how to embed automated testing/security checks
- Clear written and verbal communication; ability to document process and test artifacts
- Bachelor's degree or associate's degree in computer science or information security preferred
- Security-focused experience strongly preferred
- Experience with PCI/SOC2 or other compliance-oriented testing is a plus
- Experience with API/backend test automation and/or performance/load testing is a plus
- Familiarity with Laravel, Vue, or Python is a plus
