Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. New Frontier Immigration Law is a mid-sized law firm dedicated to humanitarian-based immigration solutions. They are seeking a licensed Immigration Attorney to provide paralegal and legal assistant support to U.S.-based immigration attorneys, working on humanitarian immigration cases remotely during the U.S. evening hours. Responsibilities β’ Prepare and assemble complex immigration applications including I-130, I-485, I-751, I-601A, VAWA (I-360), U visa (I-918), T visa (I-914), SIJS petitions, asylum applications (I-589), and naturalization (N-400) β’ Review client intake information and organize supporting documentation (birth certificates, marriage certificates, police records, medical records, affidavits, etc.) β’ Draft cover letters, legal memoranda, and case summaries for attorney review β’ Prepare evidentiary exhibits and organize them according to USCIS filing requirements β’ Conduct legal research on immigration law, case precedents, country conditions, and USCIS policy guidance β’ Draft declarations, affidavits, and hardship statements for humanitarian cases β’ Research state-specific requirements for SIJS predicate orders and family court filings β’ Prepare legal briefs and memoranda on complex immigration issues β’ Prepare removal defense packages including asylum applications, cancellation of removal filings, and bond motions β’ Organize evidence for Immigration Court hearings (Master Calendar and Individual Hearings) β’ Draft motions to terminate, motions to reopen, and motions to reconsider β’ Compile country conditions evidence and expert witness materials β’ Review applications for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with USCIS requirements β’ Conduct internal quality checks before attorney final review β’ Ensure all deadlines are tracked and cases are filed timely β’ Maintain organized digital case files using Filevine case management software β’ Draft client correspondence and case status updates for attorney approval β’ Prepare interview preparation materials for USCIS interviews β’ Translate documents (if applicable language skills) β’ Assist with client document collection requests β’ Provide detailed case notes and handoff summaries for U.S. attorneys each morning β’ Participate in virtual team meetings (may require flexibility for U.S. business hours occasionally) β’ Collaborate with U.S.-based paralegals and attorneys through Slack, Microsoft Teams, or similar platforms β’ Flag urgent issues or questions for attorney attention Skills β’ J.D. or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution in your country β’ Active bar license or legal practice authorization in South Africa, India, or the Philippines β’ Must be a licensed attorney (not just paralegal certification) β’ Minimum 3 years of legal experience (immigration law experience preferred but not required) β’ Experience with document preparation, legal research, and case management β’ Familiarity with U.S. immigration law is a strong plus (USCIS forms, EOIR procedures, etc.) β’ Paralegal, legal assistant, or document preparation experience in any legal field is valuable β’ Exceptional attention to detail - Immigration applications require precision β’ Strong legal writing in English (native or near-native fluency required) β’ Legal research skills using online databases (Westlaw, LexisNexis, Google Scholar, etc.) β’ Organizational skills - Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously β’ Tech proficiency - Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Adobe Acrobat, case management software β’ Self-starter mentality - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision β’ Cultural sensitivity - Comfort working with diverse immigrant populations and trauma-informed approach β’ Reliable high-speed internet connection β’ Quiet, professional home office setup β’ Computer capable of running case management software (Filevine) β’ Availability during required work hours (your daytime = U.S. evening) β’ U.S. immigration law knowledge - Prior experience with USCIS forms, VAWA, U visas, asylum, removal defense β’ Spanish, Portuguese, French, Hindi, Tagalog, or other language fluency (in addition to English) β’ Experience with U.S. legal systems - Previous work with U.S. law firms or immigration organizations β’ Filevine or similar case management software experience (Clio, MyCase, etc.) β’ 5+ years legal experience for senior-level consideration and higher compensation β’ Immigration paralegal certification or specialized training (bonus) Company Overview β’ New Frontier Immigration Law is a law firm that specializes in family petitions, military parole, appeals, and naturalization services.
