Job Description
- We are seeking an experienced real estate tax professional to join a growing practice and support a diverse client base of real estate owners, operators, and closely held investment entities. This role is ideal for someone who can juggle both hands-on tax work and strategic tax planning and advisory.
- Open to Senior Manager, Director or Jr. Partner level.
- Remote position with occasional travel to San Diego.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Review complex partnership K-1s, capital accounts, and allocation schedules.
- Oversee preparation of multi-state filings and ensure consistency across jurisdictions.
- Ensure accurate application of real estate-specific tax rules, including depreciation, passive activity limitations, and disposition reporting.
- Apply working knowledge of real estate tax concepts such as: §1031 exchanges, Cost segregation studies and depreciation planning, Entity structuring and ownership changes, and more.
- Assist with tax research for real estate transactions, acquisitions, dispositions, and restructurings.
- Support senior leadership on more complex planning initiatives and client advisory discussions.
- Provide guidance and review support to staff and seniors, helping develop technical skills and ensuring consistent work quality.
- Qualifications:
- 8+ years of public accounting experience, with a strong emphasis on real estate tax.
- Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing partnership, individual, and entity tax returns for real estate clients.
- Solid working knowledge of Partnership taxation (Subchapter K), Real estate depreciation and dispositions, Multi-state tax considerations
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
