About the Role:
The Reading Specialist will play a key role in supporting student literacy development by providing targeted reading instruction and interventions. You’ll collaborate closely with school staff, students, and families to help ensure a safe, inclusive, and effective learning environment that fosters academic growth.
- Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct reading instruction and interventions to students based on assessment data and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress monitoring records for students receiving services
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and support staff to develop and implement effective literacy strategies
- Support student academic progress, engagement, and confidence in reading skills
- Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal regulations related to literacy programs and student support
- Qualifications:
- Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification with Reading Specialist endorsement or related credential
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Reading, Literacy, or a relevant field
- Experience working in schools providing literacy instruction or intervention, preferably with children/adolescents
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
