- *Overview:** The City of Tallahassee is seeking a highly skilled Power Plant Apprentice-Electric & Gas Instrument Technician or Journey-Electrician & Instrument Technician to join our Electric & Gas Utility team. This position is responsible for installing, calibrating, repairing, adjusting, inspecting, and performing preventative maintenance on electrical power plant equipment and power plant instrumentation and control systems. **Responsibilities:**? As a Power Plant Apprentice, the incumbent will participate in an apprentice training program designed to provide knowledge, skill, and experience needed to qualify for Power Plant Electric and Instrument Technician. * Perform tasks under the general direction of supervisory or journeyman level workers, including installation, calibration, testing, and maintenance of power plant electrical or instrumentation and control systems. * As a Journey-Electrician & Instrument Technician, the incumbent will install, calibrate, repair, adjust, inspect, and perform preventative maintenance on electrical power plant equipment and power plant instrumentation and control systems. * Work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures, and may be required to work outside of regular hours, including on-call and overtime. **Qualifications:**? Power Plant Apprentice-Electric & Gas Instrument Technician:+ Possession of a high school diploma or an equivalent recognized certificate. + Must be medically certified to wear a respirator and pass a respirator fit test prior to employment. + Must possess a valid Class E State driver's license at the time of appointment. + Must be able to distinguish between red and green. * Journey-Electrician & Instrument Technician:+ Possession of a high school diploma or an equivalent recognized certificate and completion of the Electric & Gas Utility's apprenticeship program for Power Plant Electric and Instrument Technicians or equivalent external apprenticeship program and one year of journeyman level work experience. + Must be medically certified to wear a respirator and pass a respirator fit test prior to employment. + Must possess a valid Class E State driver's license at the time of appointment. + Must be able to distinguish between red and green. **Benefits:**The City of Tallahassee offers comprehensive benefits packages including paid vacation, sick leave, parental, and catastrophic illness leaves; defined benefit pension; defined contribution plans; paid holidays; tuition reimbursement; as well as medical, dental, vision, life, long-term disability, pre-paid legal, critical illness, and auto insurance plans.
