About the position
- Responsibilities
- Develop engaging and effective content that aligns with the museum collection and TEKS standards to accompany specialized education projects.
- Write and create engaging and effective lessons for students, instructions for teachers, and design student-facing materials, accompanying slides, scripts, etc.
- Apply knowledge of 4th and 7th grade TEKS, especially social studies standards, to all content.
- Ensure a literacy component to all materials.
- Provide revisions and constructive feedback on content written by other authors.
- Play a key role in project development, planning, and execution of engaging Texas history content materials for grades 4-8.
- Collaborate and work closely with education department and Museum staff to create cohesive vision for all lessons.
- Attend bi-monthly on-site meetings with Museum staff.
- Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in history, education, or a related field.
- 3 years teaching 4th or 7th grade history and has written or developed Texas history curriculum.
- Proven experience in writing curriculum or training materials.
- Strong knowledge of Texas history TEKS.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to provide, receive, and respond to feedback in a constructive and positive manner.
- Effective problem-solving skills and acute attention to detail.
- Ability to think strategically and analytically to execute conceptual ideas into a finished product.
- Proven history of working independently while operating within a team environment.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and self-motivate to successfully meet deadlines.
- Adapt quickly to changes.
- Brainstorm and collaborate in a team setting.
