Brake, a leading UK charity, is expanding its National Road Victim Service and is seeking a Local Caseworker to join our dynamic team in South Wales.
About Brake and Our Mission
Brake has been supporting victims of road carnage since 1995, and we're on a mission to prevent future collisions. Every 20 minutes, someone is killed or seriously injured on our roads, impacting lives profoundly. Our National Road Victim Service provides world-class support services to those at their most vulnerable, and we're looking for a dedicated caseworker to join our team.
Role Snapshot:
- Job Title: Local Caseworker - Supporting Road Victims in South Wales

- Location: Remote with frequent travel required in South Wales

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver face-to-face support services to clients in their own home or safe meeting place within the South Wales region
- Provide emotional support and advocacy to individuals affected by road trauma, including those who have suffered sudden bereavement or have heightened vulnerabilities
- Conduct research and advocacy to support cases, reaching out to other organizations where required
- Utilize competent IT skills for remote work and maintain accurate records
- Travel throughout South Wales to deliver services, with expenses reimbursed
- Collaborate with a skilled and friendly team to achieve service goals
Essential and Preferred Qualifications:
- Essential:
- Frontline support service experience
- A full, clean UK driving licence, access to your own transport, and willingness to use it for work purposes
- Competent IT skills for remote work
- Preferred:
- Experience supporting people who have suffered sudden bereavement or working with those with heightened vulnerabilities
- Research and advocacy skills
- Fluency in Welsh
- Background in roles within the police, criminal justice, counselling, caseworker, or health and social care sectors
