Position HighlightsThe Department of Teaching, Learning and Sociocultural Studies at the University of Arizona is seeking an accomplished school educator to join our teacher preparation faculty for the 2025-2026 academic year. This will be a non-tenure track Limited Term Adjunct instructor to provide part time instruction during our Fall Session in our social studies methodology course, TLS 527.Course is taught in person to Tucson students, with Statewide students attending remotely.NOTE: The teaching schedule will be dependent upon class assignment; assignment may be online, classroom- based, hybrid depending on need.The University of Arizona has been recognized for our innovative work-life programs. Duties & ResponsibilitiesDuties and Responsibilities:


  • Instruct graduate students who are prospective secondary social studies teachers; one course during Fall 2025

  • Plan weekly lessons and assignments

  • Assist students in arranging observations of practicing mathematics teachers in the field

  • Grade projects and exams

  • Work with faculty who oversee the Teach Arizona curriculum and courses

  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong content background in social studies based upon teaching experience in middle school or high school social studies, post-secondary coursework, endorsements and/or certification exams

  • Knowledge of national and state social studies standards

  • Knowledge of engaging instructional methodologies for teaching social studies content

  • Evidence of reflective practice and experience working with diverse students at the secondary level.

  • Knowledgeable in theoretical frameworks of social justice education and/or critical multiculturalism

  • Willingness and ability to participate in professional preparation to acquire knowledge of and skills needed to be an effective instructor.

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively and share instructional strategies and materials with beginning teachers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in relevant discipline

  • A minimum of 12 years of experience as a social studies teacher in grades 6-12

  • Recognized as an exemplary classroom teacher and effective role model

  • Experience as a mentor teacher to pre-service teachers

  • Experience as a staff development leader at the K-12 school district level

Preferred Qualifications • Ph.D. (although a master’s degree plus extensive professional experience in K-12 social studies education and strong content area background will be considered). • Demonstrated experience in teaching at the college level
