Job Title: Lead GCP FHIR API Architect & Engineer Location: Nashville, TN Key Responsibilities Architecture & Design • Design scalable, secure FHIR API solutions on GCP • Define efficient data access patterns for Cloud Bigtable workloads • Develop FHIR resource mappings, profiles, and response structures • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align with enterprise architecture API Development • Build and maintain custom RESTful FHIR APIs • Implement endpoints (Patient, Encounter, Observation, etc.) • Develop advanced features like filtering, pagination, search, and versioning • Deploy APIs using Cloud Run, GKE, or App Engine • Optimize performance through caching and efficient API design Data Engineering • Retrieve and process large-scale clinical data from Cloud Bigtable • Transform source data into FHIR-compliant JSON formats • Ensure low-latency, high-throughput API responses • Implement validation, error handling, and data quality checks Security & Compliance • Implement OAuth 2.0, IAM, and secure service-to-service authentication • Ensure HIPAA compliance and secure handling of PHI • Enable audit logging, encryption, and access controls • Implement API throttling, quotas, and monitoring DevOps & Support • Support CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments • Monitor APIs using Cloud Monitoring and Logging • Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis • Continuously optimize cost, scalability, and reliability Required Skills & Experience • 10+ years of IT experience • 5+ years in API development or data engineering • Strong experience building HL7 FHIR APIs • Hands-on expertise with GCP services: Bigtable, Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud Functions • Proficiency in Java, Python, or Scala • Strong understanding of RESTful API design and best practices • Experience with OAuth 2.0, API Gateways, and IAM • Strong debugging and production support skills Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field Preferred Qualifications • Experience in healthcare (payer/provider environments) • Experience with Docker & Kubernetes (GKE) • Hands-on experience with: • BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Kafka • Spark Streaming, Dataproc, Composer • CI/CD tools, GitHub, Cloud Logging • Knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases (Oracle, SQL Server, Cassandra, MongoDB) • Experience defining custom FHIR profiles and extensions • GCP Professional Data Engineer certification If interested, Kindly share your resume to [email protected]
