Role Description
- The Medical Records Specialist at Jazz Imaging plays a crucial role in managing and organizing patient information to support healthcare processes.
- Maintaining and updating patient records in both electronic and paper formats, including details about medical history, treatments, test results, and diagnoses.
- Accurately coding health information data for reimbursement and research, requiring understanding and leveraging coding conventions and medical terminologies.
- Completing high-volume data entry tasks while minimizing errors and maintaining high standards of data integrity.
- Aiding in the processing of medical claims by ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
- Ensuring patient confidentiality in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA).
- Communicating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to clarify diagnoses or to obtain additional information.
- Performing regular audits and quality checks to validate the accuracy of records.
- Qualifications
- An associate degree in health information technology or a related field is required.
- A bachelor's degree in the same areas is preferred.
- Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) would be an advantage.
- At least two years of work experience in healthcare information management or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology is essential.
- Excellent data entry and administrative skills paired with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proven experience with electronic health records (EHR) and other hospital information systems would be beneficial.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with healthcare professionals.
