We are seeking an experienced Epic OpTime Report Writer and Configuration Expert to work alongside perioperative assessment and implementation consulting teams in support of hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and healthcare systems. This role augments consulting engagements by analyzing, optimizing, and making recommendations to adjust the capabilities of the client’s Epic EMR—specifically the OpTime module—to improve operational efficiency, data transparency, and reporting accuracy.

The consultant will partner with perioperative leadership, anesthesia, nursing, and hospital Epic teams to ensure Epic configuration and reporting accurately reflect real-world perioperative workflows and enable data-driven decision-making throughout assessment, design, and implementation phases.

Key Responsibilities

    Epic Reporting & Analytics
  • Design, build, and maintain custom Epic OpTime reports, dashboards, and extracts
  • Develop operationally meaningful perioperative metrics
  • Support executive and operational dashboards
  • Validate data accuracy against operational workflows

Epic OpTime Configuration & Optimization

  • Analyze existing OpTime configuration
  • Guide configuration adjustments for scheduling, case timing, provider roles, and resources
  • Assist in the construction of surgical block time schedules and the implementation and usage of the native block management tools within Epic
  • Recommend configuration improvements for efficiency and data integrity
    Consulting Team Augmentation & Collaboration
  • Work alongside perioperative assessment and implementation consulting teams
  • Translate assessment findings into Epic requirements
  • Support implementation and workflow enablement
    Advisory & Stakeholder Support
  • Act as liaison between perioperative services and Epic/IT teams
  • Troubleshoot Epic reporting and configuration issues
  • Advise on Epic best practices

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years Epic experience with OpTime focus
  • Experience building custom Epic reports and dashboards
  • Strong understanding of perioperative operations
  • Consulting or advisory experience
  • Ability to independently analyze EMR configuration
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Epic OpTime certification(s)
  • Experience with perioperative assessments or implementations
  • Multi-hospital or complex perioperative environment experience

Consulting Role Details

  • Contract Type: 1099
  • Work Arrangement: Primarily remote
  • Hours: Project-based and flexible (5-10 hours anticipated monthly, could increase based on utilization)
  • Compensation: Competitive hourly professional rates
