About the position
- Responsibilities
- Manage new construction, renovation, tenant fit-out, and capital renewal projects ranging in cost up to and often exceeding $20M.
- Work cohesively with all units within the Johns Hopkins Facilities and Real Estate (JHFRE) Department.
- Represent the University to external constituencies, including architects, engineers, constructors, and regulatory agencies.
- Provide exemplary customer service by actively managing the entire design and construction project.
- Review program requirements and scope with Client Representative & Users.
- Implement Economic Inclusion goals for each project.
- Develop project milestone schedules and utilize PMWeb for project documentation.
- Prepare and manage Requests for Proposals for various project services.
- Receive, tabulate, and analyze bids and proposals; review and recommend awards.
- Prepare contracts and purchase orders for all project vendors.
- Coordinate internal and external project reviews and ensure adherence to D&C policies and procedures.
- Promote sustainable practices in the project delivery process.
- Establish, maintain, and monitor project budgets; provide cash flow projections as required.
- Review and approve all project invoices and change orders.
- Coordinate project logistics and ensure adherence to policies and procedures during construction.
- Monitor project deliverables for compliance with project requirements and design standards.
- Communicate project planning and progress to Hopkins constituents.
- Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
- 10 years of construction project management experience with a proven track record of providing exemplary customer service.
- Knowledge of design and construction business practices, including scope preparation and contract issues.
- Experience and knowledge of design and construction methodologies for various building types and systems.
- Strategic thinker with proven planning skills.
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks, resolve problems, and negotiate solutions.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office, MS Project, and pdf mark-up software; familiarity with AutoCAD and BIM.
