Job Title: Taft-Hartley Defined Benefit Claims Processor

About the Role
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Defined Benefit Plan Administrator to support Taft-Hartley (multiemployer) pension funds. This individual will serve as a claims processor. The role involves processing retirement applications, ensuring compliance with plan provisions and regulatory requirements, and maintaining accurate participant records.
Key Responsibilities
- Participant Services & Retirement Processing
- Review and process retirement, disability, and survivor benefit applications in accordance with plan rules.
- Verify eligibility, calculate benefits, and prepare correspondence.
- Guide participants through application requirements and payment options with exceptional customer service.
- Plan Administration & Recordkeeping
- Maintain and update participant records.
- Coordinate with employers as needed to reconcile contribution data and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist with Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs), beneficiary updates, and status changes.
Qualifications
- Required:
- 5+ years of experience administering Defined Benefit pension plans; Taft-Hartley or multi-employer plan experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of ERISA, pension regulations, and plan document interpretation.
- Proficiency with pension administration systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Preferred:
- Experience with union trust funds or benefits administration firms.
- Designations such as CEBS, ASPPA, or related credentials (or willingness to pursue).
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills; ability to calculate complex benefit formulas.

Job Type: Part-time
Base Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
