About the position
- Responsibilities
- Accurately prepares and performs point of care testing such as urine dipstick and blood glucose.
- Perform clinical intake including vital signs, medical history, surgical history, social history, and verification of patient's current medications.
- Transcribes and enters written orders in patient electronic medical record.
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by provider, ensuring adherence to the '6 Rights' of Medication Administration.
- Assist in stocking and ordering of supplies and maintenance of equipment, coordinating with the site manager.
- Prepare patients for examination and have pre-work available for the provider, including notes and diagnostic test results.
- Track and communicate lab and diagnostic study results to patients as directed by the provider.
- Follow safety processes and policies, including infection prevention procedures and maintaining a clean environment.
- Maintain patient flow after check-in and discuss urgency with the physician.
- Provide coverage in other areas of the medical group or office as needed, including patient registration and appointment scheduling.
- Answer internal and external customer phone calls and direct messages appropriately.
- Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited program.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card.
- Ability to pass colorblind testing for POC tests requiring color change.
- Strong customer service skills and knowledge of service recovery techniques.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and keyboarding skills.
