Description: This position is for a full-time associate teacher. An associate teacher's daily assignments will depend on where there is a staff shortage. Coverage will be for absent teachers first, then paraprofessionals, or a school secretary if no teacher is absent. The associate teacher works 7:15AM-2:45PM and has a 30 minute lunch and only when school is in session, unless otherwise noted.
- Responsibilities :
- Follow established lessons plans provided by the regular teacher.
- Establish and maintain a positive learning environment by managing student behavior, addressing disruptions promptly, and enforcing school rules.
- Provide individual assistance to students as needed, answer questions, and monitor student understanding of concepts.
- Communicate regularly with the assigned teacher regarding student progress, concerns, and any necessary adjustments to lesson plans.
- Accurately record student attendance, maintain classroom records, and submit required reports as per school policy.
- Collaboration with other staff members, including administrators and counselors to support student learning. Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field preferred; minimum Associate's degree
- Hold a valid Indiana teaching license or substitute teaching permit
- Pass a background check
- Complete online application
- Experience in a high school classroom setting
- Strong classroom management skills and ability to maintain student engagement
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all students and colleagues
- Ability to adapt to different teaching styles and curriculum expectations
- Ability to use computer network systems
