About the position
- Responsibilities
- Advise current and prospective students on course planning, major selection, degree requirements, and career planning.
- Utilize technology and data to support academic advising duties and foster student retention and success.
- Review student academic progress and advise on actions regarding academic and career goals.
- Refer students to appropriate support offices and organizations as needed.
- Conduct group advising sessions and assist in planning College Credit Plus New Student Orientation and other events.
- Develop programming efforts for at-risk student populations and advise specific cohorts requiring specialized knowledge.
- Maintain and manage advising caseload and student records in compliance with regulations.
- Develop and maintain contact with faculty and staff to support effective advising practices.
- Requirements
- Master's degree in Counseling, Communication, College Student Personnel, Student Affairs in Higher Education, or related field.
- 1 year of direct advising experience or experience in a college or high school functional area with direct student contact.
- Knowledge of university academic policies and procedures, degree programs, and support services.
- Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Microsoft Office and PeopleSoft/CSS.
- Understanding of student learning outcomes and developmental advising strategies.
