We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Preschool Teacher Assistant to join our Head Start team in Salem, OR. As a Teacher Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our teachers and family educators in providing high-quality education and care to our preschool children. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers and family educators in planning and implementing educational activities and lesson plans
- Provide support in areas such as education, transportation, food service, and cleaning
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment for children, including supervising outdoor play and monitoring pick-up and drop-off
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and staff, respecting cultural diversity and promoting anti-biased practices
- Attend regular training events, workshops, and meetings to stay up-to-date on program policies, procedures, and best practices
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED and 6 months of experience working in a Head Start classroom or 1 year of experience working with preschool children in a classroom/childcare setting
- Child Development Associate (CDA) or Certificate of Completion in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college (Level 2)
- Proficient in computer use and related technology
- Bilingual English-Spanish capabilities preferred
- Registration with the Central Background Registry of the Child Care Division and pre-employment physical examination
