We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Professor to join our Department of Native American Studies. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the development and delivery of our core curriculum, maintain a strong research agenda, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Job Summary:



  • Contribute to the core Native American Studies curriculum and General Education courses

  • Maintain a creative and/or research agenda in the Native American Humanities

  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students, with a particular emphasis on Indigenous research methodologies

  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop a new graduate program in Native American Studies

  • Participate in departmental and university-wide service activities

Requirements:



  • Doctorate (or international equivalent) in Native American Studies or a related area, with degree requirements expected to be completed by August 20, 2024

  • Experience developing pedagogic curriculum for, as well as teaching in, the field of Native American Studies

  • A strong commitment to teaching at the college level and a record of excellence in teaching and research


Preferred Qualifications:



  • A record of scholarly and/or creative activity in Indigenous Studies or Native American Studies

  • Experience working with Native American reservations, communities, and organizations or Indigenous communities

  • An ability to develop student-centered learning experiences leveraging face-to-face, online, and hybrid pedagogies
