As a School Health Nurse Specialist II, you will play a vital role in providing intermediate-level professional nursing services to students and staff in a public school setting. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide primary, preventive, and rehabilitative care to students and staff, including chronic disease management, health screenings, and medication management
- Develop and implement individualized care plans for students with chronic conditions, such as diabetes, asthma, and severe allergies
- Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and other healthcare professionals to promote a healthy school environment and support student learning
- Provide health education and counseling to students, parents, and staff on various health topics, including nutrition, mental health, and disease prevention
- Participate in infectious disease control and surveillance, including immunization monitoring and follow-up
Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a BS Degree in Nursing, including a Public Health nursing rotation
- 6-12 months of professional nursing experience in a public health setting or related environment, preferably with 12 months of demonstrated experience in a specialty area
- Possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the North Carolina Board of Nursing
- National Certification in School Nursing required within three years of employment
