Job Description
We are a U.S.-based publishing company seeking a meticulous, experienced nonfiction book expert to act as a final checkpoint before our books go live.
You'll be reviewing completed books (after formatting and copywriting), ensuring:
No lingering typos or grammar issues
All standard book elements are included (e.g. copyright page, about the author, CTA)
Layout issues are flagged (e.g. broken formatting, missing images or sections)
Tone and structure are appropriate for nonfiction (typically tech, AI, health, or how-to guides)
Requirements:
100% native English speaker, based in the U.S.
Proven experience with nonfiction books
Familiarity with Amazon KDP, print vs. Kindle formatting
Strong attention to detail — nothing gets past you
Nice to have:
Background in editing, publishing, or copyediting
Experience working with self-published authors or small presses
Deliverables:
Marked-up PDF or Word doc of your edits/comments
Short checklist of missing elements or improvements (we can provide a template)
This will be an ongoing role — we typically publish several books per month and want someone we can trust long-term.

At least 1–2 samples of your editing or proofreading work (before/after is ideal)
