About the position
The position of Student Tutor at Utah Valley University (UVU) involves providing academic support to fellow students in Biology and Chemistry courses. Tutors will work one-on-one and in group settings to assist students in overcoming challenges related to their coursework. This role emphasizes peer-to-peer learning and aims to foster a supportive educational environment for all students, regardless of their backgrounds.
- Responsibilities
- Tutor students individually and in groups by appointment and/or drop-in in assigned courses and content material. ,
- Assist in the online tutoring lab or other labs across campus as assigned. ,
- Participate in required tutor training and certification. ,
- Contribute to Academic Tutoring initiatives such as conducting class visits, creating and updating handouts, designing workshops, and participating in end-of-year events.
- Requirements
- Must be a current UVU student. ,
- Minimum 3.0 GPA. ,
- Grade B- or better in CHEM 1210 & CHEM 1220 and currently/will be enrolled in CHEM 2310. ,
- Grade B- or better in BIOL 1610.
- Nice-to-haves
- Grade B- or better in CHEM 2310 & 2320.
