Benefits include: β’ IHS/NHSC/State Loan repayment site β’ Relocation β’ Sign on/retention bonuses β’ CME/CEU/CDE Allowance β’ Free health, dental vision, life, short term disability β’ 30 days paid leave & 11 paid holidays β’ Malpractice coverage β’ Hospital housing for rent More info about area: Duties:β’ Initiates and utilizes the nursing process to meet the holistic needs of the patient and family while adhering to the professional standards set forth by American Nurses' Association. β’ Observes the patient's clinical condition: recognizes, identifies, and interprets serious and/or emergent situations while initiating appropriate nursing interventions. β’ Develops and implements patient/family teaching programs based on mutually identified health care goals. β’ Documents all observations, nursing interventions, therapeutic measures administered, and status of coordinated activities between nursing and other professional disciplines. β’ Evaluates the patient's plan of care and revises plan as needed. β’ Safeguards the patient's right to privacy by judiciously protecting information of a confidential manner. β’ Understands the developmental needs of all patients throughout the continuum of life; is able to adjust care to these needs; and documentation reflects this understanding. β’ Assumes responsibility and accountability for individual nursing judgments and actions. β’ Provides guidance and leadership to other personnel in the form of in-services and orientation/preceptorship and participates in committee activities. β’ Assumes charge nurse duties as assigned, including staffing, supervision and decision-making responsibilities. β’ When qualified, volunteers to participate in emergency medevac procedures as needed. β’ Participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement activities. β’ Utilizes incident and medication error reporting protocols per MHC policies. β’ Participates in continuing education activities. β’ Facilitates patient care across multiple disciplines, departments, and other non-MHC agencies through referrals and other business operations. β’ Proficient at patient assessment, iv start, and iv fluid administration. β’ Ensures patient educational materials are ordered, stocked, and given to patients accordingly. β’ Educates patients and families about women's health, pregnancy, and related disease processes. β’ Proficiently uses fetal monitoring devices to evaluate fetal well-being and charts accordingly in EHR. β’ Sets up and performs gynecological tests and OB/GYN related screenings and procedures as directed by provider. β’ Ensures that necessary paperwork, lab, and other supplies are readily available prior to pt arrival. Qualifications:β’ Associate or Diploma in Nursing from an Accredited College. β’ Must have RN license in good standing and be eligible to apply for an Alaska licensure as a Registered Nurse. β’ ACLS and PALS preferred; must be willing to get ACLS and PALS training within 6 months of hire. β’ Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and spend long periods of time standing or walking. β’ May be exposed to communicable diseases and hazardous materials. β’ Must be able to pass the annual core competencies assigned to the unit.
